One in Three
One in three women will fall victim to intimate partner violence in their lifetime. Unfortunately, the church frequently fails to provide the safety, assistance and education needed to battle this destructive plague on families.
Although 60% of congregations are women, 66% of pastors will rarely or never mention domestic violence to their congregations. The unfortunate fact is that many churches will promote male headship, women's submission and the sin of divorce to the extent they ignore women who are suffering from the trauma of domestic violence.
In fact, there is some research that supports the idea that because of the beliefs perpetuated in the church, it has become a hunting ground for violent predators. These men will cloak themselves in faith to prey on vulnerable women in the church, knowing that they are more likely to be encouraged to stay.
This is where we step in. Our goal is to educate and inform churches, faith-based agencies and the community at large about domestic violence and God's love and provision for women of faith who are suffering from abuse.
With all this in mind, is it any surprise that younger women are now leaving the church in greater numbers than men? They have been denied both the protection of an institution commanded to help the hurting and their birthright as daughters of God.

Time to Bloom is dedicated to increasing awareness of domestic violence, decreasing the prevalence of this epidemic and providing faith-based recovery and support to victims. Time to Bloom reaches out to agencies and individuals to provide support that mirrors the love of God to women who are hurting.
