Rev. Dr. Geneece Goertzen (PhD, LMSW, MDiv) has researched topics related to domestic violence, taught numerous workshops, served for nine years on the board of directors for her local family violence shelter, testified before state legislature on multiple bills that affect victims and survivors, and serves on a statewide public policy committee. Her research includes resilience and posttraumatic growth in survivors, the lived experiences of institutional betrayal and courage in survivors, and the church’s response to abuse. As a survivor of more than two decades of domestic violence herself, she is passionate about awareness, advocacy, validating survivor experiences, and conducting continued research on these topics.
